Socorrito Lagos: Intelligence and Generosity in Action
Socorrito Lagos, whose intelligence and generosity have left an indelible mark on the community, founded the non-profit organization Licio y Gloria Lagos Terán (LGLT) in 2004. Having worked as a volunteer in various children’s homes, she became very aware of these establishments’ great need for financial support, and so, on her own initiative and with the support of her husband Eugenio and her children, she decided to provide financial resources to these homes.
But instead of opening a home, she started a foundation that, apart from offering financial support, created a support network among the existing homes and society at large, through training and information on civil society.
Socorrito’s story is a tale of a life dedicated to service of others. More than two decades ago, with a clear vision and a heart full of compassion, she created the LGLT Foundation.
Its objective: To help those who need it most
Her philosophy of life, based on love for others and belief in the transformative power of education, has touched many lives and has made a difference through the diverse and innovative projects in which she was involved.
Socorrito Lagos is not only known for her admirable philanthropic work, but also for her ability to forge strong relationships. Her circle of loyal friends is a testament to the positive impact she has had on the lives of those around her. In addition, her organizational abilities and positive influence have had widespread impact, as demonstrated by her formation of lasting relationships for the benefit of her cause and many others.
It is important to point out that Socorrito’s legacy is not limited to just her work. Her husband, Eugenio Minvielle and her only daughter, Gloria, have continued the work she started with total dedication. The unbreakable bond between Eugenio and Socorrito is an example of collaboration and mutual love which formed the rock on which the organization was built.
Today, Gloria has lovingly and passionately assumed the responsibility of continuing her mother’s social work.
Passing the work down to the next generation has been smooth and very well accepted. In short, Socorrito Lagos is more than a leader and a philanthropist; she is a living inspiration of how intelligence, generosity and commitment can make a difference in the world and in her beloved Mexico.
The Licio y Gloria Lagos Terán Foundation was established in 2004 as a non-profit, charitable organization that provides financial support to under-privileged sectors of society. Led by a Board of Patrons, it created a fund that provides financial support for educational activities in the areas of human development and social well-being.
